1977 Iron Maiden makes its first live debut at the Cart & Horses Pub in Stratford, East London.
1979 Tony Parsons is replaced by Dennis Stratton.
1979 Iron Maiden creates their first demo tape, "Soundhouse Tapes", with 3 songs and their career is launched.
A promotional single, "Running Free" reached number 34 on the UK charts and resulted in an appearance on BBC Television's Top Of The Pops. Refusing to mime, Iron Maiden became the first band since the Who in 1973 to play live on the BBC show.
1980 Iron Maiden release their first Official album, the self title "Iron Maiden".
1981 Dennis Stratton is replaced by Adrian Smith.
1982 Bruce Dickinson (Formerly from the band Samson) replaces Paul Di'Anno.
1982 Patrick McGoohan, from the cult TV series, The Prisoner, introduces Iron Maidens song Prisoner.
1982 Iron Maiden headlines the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
1984 A piece of Winston Churchill's famous "never surrender" speech is used for the opening of the song "Aces High" - "We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.", which was given just before "The Battle of Britain".
Since the mid-80s Iron Maiden has been staging increasingly spectacular live shows, with elaborate lighting effects and stage sets.
1985 Iron Maiden releases their most popular album, "Live After Death" which has sold over 11 million copies to date.
1985 Iron Maiden headlines the first ever Rock In Rio Festival.
1988 Iron Maiden headlines the Monsters of Rock Festivals.
1990 Janick Gers joins Iron Maiden.
1990 The Song, "Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter" wins the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Song of the Year, even though it reached #34 on the U.K. charts.
